Now, see what happens when they become the cubes!

New downloadable content for the worldwide phenomenon of a video game known as Minecraft has dropped, this time themed around our favorite robots in disguise. Now, the Autoblocks can wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticubes.

Okay, I made those names up. Anyway, see how it looks for yourself:

The description from the official Minecraft website says the following about the pack:

Autobots, get ready to roll out! The Transformers DLC by Syclone Studios and Hasbro has swerved into Minecraft with a story-driven adventure that will take you on an adrenaline-fueled ride between Earth and Cybertron. Your mission? Only the small task of saving humanity! Claim your free Character Creator item: the Transformers Hoodie from the Dressing Room, then strap in and let’s defeat some Decepticons.

And from the Minecraft Marketplace, where you can purchase the DLC pack:

There is more than meets the eye in this epic Transformers Adventure Map! Play as fan-favorite Autobots like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee as you work to stop familiar foes like Megatron and Starscream. Take your battles to the next level with a variety of blocky blasters and hop into co-op multiplayer to take on the fight for freedom with friends. Autobots, roll out!

Want to see more? Then here are some screenshots for you:

You have to admit, the original, blockier G1 designs translate pretty nicely into the Minecraft style. But you might be thinking to yourself, “Why does this look so familiar?”

Well, that would be because the game seems to take more than a few cues from a past release, Transformers: Devastation. This is most evident in the use of the Decepticon Ground Soldiers as cannon fodder.

Also worth noting that this was probably easily done because Microsoft, owners of the Xbox brand, recently acquired Activision Blizzard, the publisher of Transformers: Devastation. That means they likely had easy access to the assets and resources from that game, even though the development was handled by PlatinumGames.

Still, it makes you wonder… Did they pull out those old assets just for this? Or is there more to this than meets the okay, no, I’m sorry, I can’t do it. Too easy. I have standards! …apparently.

Anyway, if you’ve already got Minecraft and want to roll out, then you can get it from the Minecraft Marketplace for $8.99 USD (or the rough equivalent in your currency), or the universal Minecraft price of 1,510 Minecoins.

GameSpark News: Squad Busters x Transformers and G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra Release Date https://www.allspark.com/gamespark-news-squad-busters-x-transformers-and-g-i-joe-wrath-of-cobra-release-date/ Fri, 20 Sep 2024 03:52:26 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=12364 Alright, who’s ready for some gaming news featuring two of your favorite Hasbro intellectual properties?

*crickets chirp*

yeah!

First up, Supercell’s mobile MOBA hero shooter (or casual strategy? Make up your mind, Wikipedia), Squad Busters, is collaborating with our beloved robots in disguise as Optimus Prime, Elita-1, and Megatron join the fray against… well, watch for yourself, and see. The animation is nice, starting in a more normal Transformers style before going to Squad Buster chibi. So if you get nothing else out of this, at least we can all enjoy that, right?

Hey, wouldn’t you know it? Optimus Prime also just so happens to be starring in a new movie that’s receiving rave reviews and is coming out soon! So is Elita! And Megatron! What are the odds of that happening?

Anyway, the ability to squad up and roll out has been in the game since the 16th, so you should be able to grab it now without any real difficulty from the App Store or Google Play. There might be a fee, though, so proceed with caution, Squadobots.

But that’s not all! We also finally have an official date for the long-awaited release of G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra!

Well, kind of. We have a release date for the Steam, Good Old Games, and Epic Games Store versions. Us console-type people with Xboxes, PlayStations, and Switches are apparently just gonna have to wait to find out when our nebulous “soon” is. Anyway…

September 26th is the date all the P.C. Joes can start de-fanging Cobra. We’ll keep you informed as to when the rest of us can squad up and roll– wait, no, someone else is using that. Right.

If you’d like to talk to fellow fans about either of these new developments, you can do so in our forums! Just head over to “GameSpark News: For the TF VG Stuff That Maybe Doesn’t Need Its Own Thread” for the Squad Busters collab, or crash through the sky and let out a fearful cry of “Cobra!” in the “G.I. Joe thread – 09/13/2024: Pulsecon – Dreadnoks, Dogs and Cereal” thread.

GameSpark News: Sausagebots, Roll Out? Sausage Man × Transformers Collaboration https://www.allspark.com/sausagebots-roll-out-sausage-man-x-transformers-collaboration/ Tue, 16 Jul 2024 20:00:51 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11973 Transformers? In a battle royale game? I never sausage a thing!

Well, okay, there was the one other time, but that was a fortnight ago.

Anyway. If you scoped out the Overwatch 2 x Transformers collaboration, but came away feeling like you wanted something a little meatier, then have we got the mash-up for you!

Say what you will, but you’ve got to give them props for using some of that wonderful Generation One cartoon soundtrack.

Despite that, though, it looks like the characters are using the evergreen versions of the designs — or, at least they are before they get, uh, sausage-fied? At which point, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Elita-1, Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, and Shockwave (huh, little heavier on the baddies there…) take on a more “chibi” appearance, with larger heads atop smaller bodies. Looks like some of the native humanoid characters can get some Cybertronian-styled gear as well.

And they’re fighting over the Allspark, because of course they are. Here’s the description:

The Allspark has arrived on Sausage Island, and the Cybertronian warriors have arrived in style! Form a ties with the Transformers and join them in this exciting and nerve-racking adventure!

Cool collaboration between Sausage Man and Transformers debuts on July 19th! Autobots and Decepticons will engage in fierce battles on Sausage Island. Let’s join them in this exciting and nerve-racking adventure!

The game is from Singapore, by the way, in case you were wondering.

And if you’re interested, it looks like these worlds collide on July 19th. Presumably of 2024.

Like Overwatch 2, we don’t really have an active thread going for this, but you’re certainly free to make one in Fun & Games! Or Transformers Discussion. Whichever suits your fancy, we’re not Prowl. It’s not like Reactivated is likely to be distracting from it any time soon, at any rate.

GameSpark News: Overwatch 2 x Transformers Collaboration Adds Gameplay Trailer https://www.allspark.com/gamespark-news-overwatch-2-x-transformers-collaboration-adds-gameplay-trailer/ Tue, 09 Jul 2024 23:54:11 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11933 Well, that didn’t take long. At at the same time, long enough.

Okay, before we go any further: Read our previous story to get yourself caught up, because I don’t feel like repeating myself in the second consecutive front-page story because they couldn’t have just done this earlier.

Got the gist? Good.

Today, Activision Blizzard decided to roll out a second trailer, featuring actual gameplay of their characters cosplaying as Cybertronians in action. Have a gander:

There you go. That’s pretty much it. You can go now.

If you’d like to discuss this with other fans on our forums… well, as I said before (verbatim), we don’t really have an Overwatch thread, sequelized or otherwise. We do have this Activision Blizzard thread in our “Fun & Games” section, though. It hasn’t really been touched since the company laid off nearly 2,000 employees at the start of the year, so this might be a way to liven it up, yeah? No? Well, you can start a separate thread, if that’s your whim. In the Transformers Discussion section, perhaps? The trailer is kinda anime-ish, so PrimalxConvoy shared it in the “Japanese Transformers News” thread, even though that’s about as far as the relevance goes.

GameSpark News: Overwatch 2 x Transformers Collaboration Rolls Out Trailer and Comic Tie-In https://www.allspark.com/gamespark-news-overwatch-2-x-transformers-collaboration-rolls-out-trailer-and-comic-tie-in/ Tue, 09 Jul 2024 07:04:18 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11926 The world of the Transformers is no stranger to collaborations, crossovers, and tie-ins. Nor, as it happens, is Overwatch 2, the first-person hero-based shooter from Blizzard Entertainment, a part of Activision Blizzard, the one-time publisher of Transformers titles such as Devastation and War for Cybertron.

Does that mean anything? Maybe. Maybe not. Probably not. But keep it in your back pocket, I guess.

Anyway, those folks rolled out a trailer for a new collaboration that begins today, and features some of our favorite robots in disguise as skins (for the gamer illiterate, that’s basically like “costumes”) for a quartet of pre-existing characters from the game. Check ’em out:

Now, as I don’t really know a whole lot about Overwatch 2, I’m deferring to Polygon to inform you that the roles seem to be distributed as follows: Bastion (who the site describes as a “Triple Changer”) is Bumblebee, Illari is Arcee, Reinhardt is Optimus Prime, and Ramattra gets to be the sole Decepticon, Megatron.

For what it’s worth, Overwatch 2 principle artist Mike Hardison explained on SMOKAT that these are the Overwatch 2 characters cosplaying as the characters, rather than the actual characters themselves. That said, there is a little more meat to this crossover than just everyone playing dress-up, as they also released a free digital comic online called “Transmission” that shows Megatron establishing a trade with Ramattra: He gets Cybertronian tech in exchange for Megatron using him as an avatar in this world. Naturally, the Autobots can’t have that, and so the race is on to find new heroes to which they can lend their aid.

So… maybe these costumes are actually — say it with me — more than meets the eye?

Right.

So, anyway. If you play the game (it’s free on Nintendo Switch, Steam for PC, Xbox One/Series X|S, and PlayStations 4 & 5), for those interested by this), the costumes will be available starting today, July 9th, 2024. And if past crossovers, specifically the recent Cowboy Bebop, are anything to go by, they aren’t cheap. Those went for 2,500 Overwatch coins, or roughly $25/£21.

Oh, and that’s each, by the way. So kiss your favorite picture of Ben Franklin (or whatever the equivalent would be in other countries) good-bye if you decide to go all the way in on this.

If you’d like to discuss this with other fans on our forums… well, we don’t really have an Overwatch thread, sequelized or otherwise. GameSpark News: Transformers: Galactic Trials Coming to All Major Platforms from Outright Games https://www.allspark.com/gamespark-news-transformers-galactic-trials-coming-to-all-major-platforms-from-outright-games/ Tue, 02 Jul 2024 21:38:15 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11869 There’s a new Transformers game on the horizon, and it’s definitely putting an emphasis on both the transforming and the rolling out.

While the fate of Transformers: Reactivated remains unknown, and the state of Hasbro’s initiative to get the now Microsoft-owned Activision Blizzard back catalog of Transformers titles re-released is anyone’s guess, Outright Games announced today a new entrant in the digital arena of battles between Autobots and Decepticons.

Developed by 3DClouds, Transformers: Galactic Trials is not about the Cybertronian race being represented in a galactic court to stand trial for all the devastation their war has brought to countless planets (but if someone wants to create an Ace Attorney spoof fan game that does that, there’s your prompt), but rather, it’s a game that mixes racing and “rogue-lite” combat.

As the story goes, the evil Nemesis Prime has stolen the Prime Relics, leading to both Autobot and Decepticon alike to set out on an adventure to recover the artifacts and take control of the “incredible powers” they can grant. Among those vying for the prize are, of course, mainstays such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, and Soundwave. Backing them up — or perhaps in it for their own reasons — are Autobots Arcee, Wheeljack, Elita-1, and Decepticons Flamewar, Shockwave, and Nightbird. And it looks like they’re all sporting their “Evergreen” designs.

They will race across “battle-race circuits” to collect the relics and beat their opponents as they race arcade-style in vehicle form and engage in combat in robot mode, all in an effort to defeat their enemies and make it to the finish line. Hmm, think Velocitron will play a part in this? Because this sounds like exactly the kind of game that planet was made for.

As players progress and collect relics, they’ll be able to level up their skills and unlock new “iconic” playable characters and skins. Hopefully that means there are more characters than we’ve seen already, and not just that half the ones named above are locked away. After all, who wouldn’t want Hot Rod and Blurr to join Bumblebee on the track?

There are two game modes: Galactic Trials and Arcade. The former is the single-player mode where you’re out to collect relics, while the latter is where you can race locally with a friend in 2-player mode, create your own custom race tracks, characters, and weapons, or enter “location-based specialized tournaments.” Not quite sure what that means; is it based around a specific in-game location? Or do I have to hope they come to Toronto in order to participate?

“As TRANSFORMERS celebrates its 40th year alongside the theatrical premiere of its first fully CG-animated film, TRANSFORMERS ONE, we are proud to continue our collaboration with Outright Games to unveil an epic journey that speaks to the enduring legacy of the iconic brand,” said Eugene Evans, SVP Digital Strategy and Licensing at Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro. “With immersive gameplay, and a storyline that resonates with fans old and new, TRANSFORMERS: Galactic Trials is sure to ignite excitement. Through this all-new TRANSFORMERS racing experience, we continue to expand our digital offerings through strategic licensing and internal development and we can’t wait for TRANSFORMERS fans to see what else we have in store.”

Outright Games has formed a track record of publishing Transformers games, which includes Transformers: Battlegrounds and Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition, among other licensed titles. The developer, 3DClouds, doesn’t have quite the same track record with the license, but we’ll see how they do when the Matrix of Gamership is passed to them when they release Transformers: Galactic Trials on October 11th, 2024, on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Until then, you can discuss this upcoming prospect in the “Transformers Galactic Trials: new console game” thread in our forums!

Transformers Activision games possibly returning? https://www.allspark.com/transformers-activision-games-possibly-returning/ Sun, 30 Jun 2024 03:22:24 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11859 In a move that surprised absolutely everyone, the Transformers Activision games have been relisted on digital gaming stores like Steam on PC and the Microsoft Store on Xbox. This comes hot of the heels of the recently teased Overwatch 2 collaboration, indicating that this could be a new era between Hasbro and Activision. Who knows what other surprises may come as a result of this, but the future might look bright when it comes to Transformers and gaming.

Note: The prices are shown on COP currency.

Interestingly, the games do not seem to be currently showing up on the PlayStation store, this all leads us to believe it could be a result of the recent Activision Blizzard buyout by Microsoft, the games seem to be the own native version on Xbox as they are not marked as “Backwards compatible” but in the same menu as other regular Xbox games, funnily enough War for Cybertron in particular shows up on Steam but it’s missing on Xbox.

Will you game to these certified gaming classics or are you gonna crank out of this discovery? Join the discussion in our Transformers forum, our Discord Server, our twitter, or our Facebook group

GameSpark News: Rita Rewinds Power Rangers, Mo’ Joe, and Transformers: Deactivated? https://www.allspark.com/gamespark-news-rita-rewinds-power-rangers-mo-joe-and-transformers-deactivated/ Mon, 10 Jun 2024 04:58:21 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11695 With the 2024 iteration of Summer Game Fest happening over the last several days, there’s been a little bit of news and a rumor surrounding the video game versions of some of our favorite Hasbro properties.

Starting things off with a bang — or more like a clap of thunder — is the announcement of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, a retro-styled beat ’em up very much in the vein of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, which is apparently the style of this time:

The plot is a touch on the confusing side: Did you happen to watch Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always? If so, then this is apparently if Robo-Rita’s plan worked, as she goes to the past to team up with her non-robotic self to vanquish the Rangers through time travel tomfoolery.

According to the official website, it’s “all-new adventure with an original storyline that both respects and remixes Power Rangers lore with scenarios and gameplay that will be both familiar and new to MMPR fans. Players will brawl, blast, fight, and drive through a constantly shifting mix of classic game genres and fan-favorite moments from the series.

Here’s the details from the Steam page (where you can wish list it now):

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, the team faces off against a robotic reincarnation of the Power Rangers’ long-time nemesis. Robo-Rita has conjured a portal to send herself back in time so she can finally vanquish the Power Rangers by forming an alliance with her younger self. Working together, Robo-Rita and Rita Repulsa rewind, rewrite, and remix the past in an attempt to stop the very formation of the Power Rangers, altering the course of history.

Will the two Ritas and their army of monstrous enemies from across the MMPR timeline finally succeed in destroying the Power Rangers? Or will these teenagers with attitude learn to work together and counter this catastrophic chronological collaboration?

Players will be able to experience the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers again – for the first time! The past will never be the same…

FEATURES

  • Classic 90’s look and feel with hand-drawn pixel art
  • Fan-favorite enemies pulled from different seasons of the hit tv show
  • Events and episodes that players remember from the show have been remixed
  • Action-packed, 2-D brawler gameplay with arcade-style shooting and driving sequences
  • Pilot all of the original Dinozords
  • Jump into the cockpit of the legendary Megazord and take down gigantic bosses
  • Offline and Online support for up to 5 players
  • And lots more!

The game is coming “before the end of 2024” to PC and “multiple consoles,” though just which consoles will strike Morphin Time has yet to be revealed. Probably Xbox One/Series X|S, PlayStation 4/5, and Nintendo Switch, but hey, it doesn’t always work out that way. We’ll see in due time.

Next up, we have a new trailer for G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra:

There isn’t really much more to say about this one that hasn’t already been said in our previous two articles, at least that I’ve been able to find, though there is a demo available now on Steam.

Finally, we have a rumor that’s sure to disappoint.

Or excite.

It really depends on your feelings towards Transformers: Reactivate, a 1-4 player action game which has, to be quite frank, had a rather quiet and seemingly disjointed development. And toys that have been released well before we got to see much of anything resembling in-game footage. Dipping back into the tag for the game, the last big news was that it would be a no-show at The Game Awards last December, with most previous stories being about the aforementioned figure releases, as well as the announce trailer from the prior Game Awards.

It’s that last one that’s raising a few eyebrows, as people have been noticing that the day before Summer Game Fest, the official social media accounts have taken to removing tweets and videos of the announcement trailer, save for one YouTube Short:

The trailer still remains on YouTube, but is now unlisted (though their Twitter missed a link, as it so happens).

It could be nothing, but between this and the project’s “tumultuous” seven-year development cycle, some fans are worried that work on the game might have been restarted, or worse, cancelled.

In a video from Toy Reel (via Seibertron.com) which premiered on May 23rd, a Hasbro Australia representative stated “It is highly anticipated and I know that there’s a lot coming out from the the fans [who] are waiting for this to come out and be released, but hopefully in 2025 we’ll have something more to share.” However, as unfortunate as it is, things can really turn on a dime in this industry.

Hopefully, whatever is going on isn’t as bad as any of that, though.

Joe thread, and of course, the Transformers: Reactivate (console MMO) thread. Choose your favorite, or collect post in them all!

Something Kinda Funny Happened on the Way to the Terrordrome… New G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra Trailer https://www.allspark.com/something-kinda-funny-happened-on-the-way-to-the-terrordrome-new-g-i-joe-wrath-of-cobra-trailer/ Sat, 16 Mar 2024 05:07:16 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11156 It’s been a cup of Joe since the last time we saw a trailer for Wrath of Cobra, but the MIX x Kinda Funny Spring Showcase 2024 never gave up, and were always there until they could provide some more footage of the game over land and sea and air.

While the previous trailer focused on single-player action, Gung-Ho, Snake-Eyes, Roadblock, and Scarlet are here to highlight the local and online multiplayer that supports up to four members of America’s elite. We also get a look at what appear to be some of the characters’ super moves and taunts, too, as well as some new varieties of Cobra troops and hardware. C.L.A.W.s and Trouble Bubbles and H.I.S.S. tanks, oh my!

If you missed our previous coverage, then be sure to click right here for another trailer, screens, game details, and more! (Well, not more, actually. That’s about it.)

Our International Heroes will be there in the second quarter of 2024 when G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra comes to Nintendo Switch and Steam for the PC, courtesy of developer Maple Powered Games (how ironic) and publisher Freedom Games (how apt).

If you’d like to talk about this, or just crash through the sky with an evil cry of “Co-BRA!“, then head over to the “G.I. Joe thread” in our forums.
