Transformers Voice Actor, Peter Spellos, has passed away today at age 69.
It is a sad day to announce that beloved Transformers Voice Actor, Peter Spellos, has passed away. He was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer back in September, this year. It was announced on Facebook by his friend, Fred Olen, who confirmed early morning on Sunday, November 19th, 2023.
Most TF fans know him for voicing the fan favorite character from Robots in Disguise (2001), the poetic Predacon Sky-Byte. Bringing his own cadence and rhyming style to the dub of the character (originally named Gelshark in the Car Robots Japanese adaptation), Spellos’ voice gave this shark the pompous, yet silly personality that we, as fans, enjoyed in his appearances throughout the show. He was even brought back to voice Sky-Byte once more in a Ask Vector Prime post on Facebook!
Spellos has also been known in both animated and live-action roles. He voiced Gilliam (Outlaw Star), Sagat (Street Fighter 2: The Animated Series), and various Digimon in their various series and movies.
His live action roles included being Gus in the tv show, American Dreams, Tracy’s father in Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, and Captain Larry Bridgewater in Men in Black ll.

A beloved VA in the Transformers community. While he’d been semi-retired in recent years, he was always a guest of honor at many TFCons, TFNations, and other conventions across the country.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Spellos. And condolences to his family and friends. You don’t need to swim on down, you’ll always be the baddest shark in town.
