Transformers: Reactivate (console MMO)

The Transformers Reactivate game has gone through multiple iterations. It was initially called Transformers Rise and now the opening cutscene that was originally made for that initial iteration has leaked. It is a series of slightly moving images, which we’ve seen in low effort online coop or multiplayer shooter games.
This will probably not be the cutscene we get when Reactivate finally comes out but it gives a sense of the kind of game it is and its budget. More importantly, it reveals what the generic enemy is. It is a swarm of nanobots from space that can take the form of one eyed enemies. When that form is killed, the nanobots disperse to reform into another enemy at a later time. That’s the storytelling behind the gameplay loop to explain the endless enemy fodder.

Yeah, still awaiting the ‘ahem’ Rise of Reactivate. :)

I hope it does.

Kidding aside, I like the cutscene. Sets up the war, the fall and so on. Although the idea of humanity surviving for 70 years against a nanotechnology threat while the bots and cons got stasis locked seems a little much. However, still a good setup.

Welp, here we are. This past weekend was “Summer Gamefest” a pseudo-replacement for E3 in terms of the new gaming reveals. And Transformers Reactivate was a no-show. While there is still, technically, SDCC and Gamescom for a potential reveal/update…its absence at the the “start” of convention season is clearly a bad omen.

Also notable, mentions of the game have been removed from Splash Damage’s core social media sources, like Facebook and X. That said, the game DOES still remain on the website and the dedicated Transformers Reactivate sites remain up. Not that it means much when the latest update was last December noting the engine change to Unreal 5. Aside from an ABSURD amount of leaked material, including cutscenes and key character information.

After 7 years across two developers and at LEAST one major engine change…Has Hasbro decided to cut their losses? Or do you think it’ll piddle out next year (completely missing the 40th celebration, btw)?

Until any kind of official confirmation either way comes out, Reactivate remains Stuck in development hell.

Its basically the Schrödinger Cat of TF games now. :)

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

So... what then? 7 or 8 more years then we get a technically and graphically mediocre game that would have been outstanding 7-8 years prior?

Videogames are a lot more expensive to make than they were during the Duke Nukem Forever debacle. There's going to be a point where there's just no longer any realistic chance for this to make money. The only reason to keep going would be ego, but so little has ever been said about this game by any official source that it would be fairly easy to just never mention it again.

I, for one, am still excited for Transformers: Impact Transformers Online Transformers: Rise Transformers: Reactivate and cannot wait for Hasbro to randomly release a couple more toys based on designs for this video game that we still basically know jackshit about.

Their likely getting stored in a warehouse somewhere, awaiting the day they get shipped out or at least the molds are being stored until they are ready to send them off into production

With the way the games industry is going, of smaller studios getting eaten up by bigger ones and then brutally culled for short-term bigwig money even if they make successful games (see: Hi-Fi Rush devs, everything Embracer Group has done, recent Microsoft cuts, etc, etc), unless the game lands at the feet of someone particularly big or lucky, I have my doubts it's ever gonna make it.

Based on the toy designs, it really would be a shame if Reactivate is quietly dropped. Hope it doesn’t.

Guess we’ll find out either by 2025, or hopefully some time sooner.

i definitely second the hope for some more Reactivate based figures. Still have to get the twopacks myself, but they are pretty good.

If there's actually a game to be played, and it turns out popular enough: hasbro will absolutely spin it into a new toy line.

I'm hoping that at least Optimus will get a KO with better paint, etc in the future. I don't want to bother with the sub-par Soundwave figure.

Optimus looks good as he is, the only real problems would be with his weapons, with the gun, the handle is a bit to short, while with the axe, the direction of the handle is rather odd, the actual figure is pretty good, sure there is no trailer hook but that not a problem for me as his legs clean up nicely, but if I was to add some paint, I would put across the windows to hide the Matrix
